We were excited to embark on this website redesign for Cusheon Lake Resort—a beautiful cabin resort on Salt Spring Island, off the coast of B.C., Canada. Top-rated on Tripadvisor, this property obviously knows what it’s doing. Inviting guests to relax and reconnect with nature, Cusheon Lake Resort offers the kind of fun family vacations of yesteryear with all the comforts and conveniences of today. This tranquil property needed a website that reflects this special appeal and immediately puts visitors at ease.
An on-trend, user-friendly design gives visitors confidence
The moment you land on the Cusheon Lake Resort homepage, you know you’re in good hands. The on-trend design conveys not only a serene stay experience but a seamless user experience too.
Visitors are greeted by a stunning, full-screen lake view with text overlay welcoming them to Cusheon Lake Resort. The hero slider rotates through four images, giving an overview of the property and its beautiful natural setting.
Scrolling down, users are presented with a written introduction to the property beneath the heading, “Reconnect. Relax. Recreate.” The simple, modern design supports this sentiment with a natural color palette that reflects the property’s natural surroundings, and a background illustration of a lakeside setting—immediately communicating what this property is all about.
You can’t miss the cool booking widget. Directly below the hero slider, the widget shares screen space equally with the written introduction. Its prominent, modern presentation is hard to resist. Despite the space it takes, it isn’t overdone or too pushy—it harmoniously fits into the homepage design, inspiring confidence.
This simple, contemporary design melds the rusticity of nature with modern convenience to create a timeless appeal—like the property itself. Simple to navigate, the website reflects the easy, relaxing experience guests can expect at the lake.
All you could want to know is easily accessed from the main navigation menu, which conveniently sticks to the top of the screen as you scroll. Visitors can book from any page using the ‘book now’ link included in the main navigation. Separate pages for each cabin type offer detailed information, including a description, eye-catching grid gallery, and a ‘book now’ button, which conveniently takes users to the availability search for that particular cabin type.
Dedicated pages for destination information (‘Visiting Salt Spring’ page), sustainability efforts (‘Stewardship’ page), and the story behind the property (‘Your Hosts’ page) highlight the kind of content that engages visitors and helps drive conversions.
As a responsive design, the Cusheon Lake Resort website offers users a seamless experience on mobile too, automatically detecting the device it is being viewed on and adjusting the layout, font size, etc. accordingly. An accessibility widget affords a user-friendly experience for all, allowing users to adjust appearance (for example, contrast, text spacing and paused animations) for easier viewing based on individual needs.
Like all of our redesigns, the Cusheon Lake Resort website allows the client to easily update content themselves, using their WordPress content management system. That way, they don’t have to rely on their designer every time they want to update images or text.
