Our design staff recently had the pleasure of creating a brand-new website for Huletts on Lake George—a beautiful resort (equipped with cottages, suites, a casino, ice-cream parlor, and golf-course) located in upstate New York. Residing on the east shore of Lake George and surrounded by the stunning Adirondack mountains, the property is ideally positioned to provide visiting families with a scenic, activity-filled getaway.
We’re happy to say that their new website showcases everything this dynamic property, and the surrounding Lake George region, have to offer.
Guests to the site are met with an image of a serene lake scene overlain with a message of welcome. Arrows on either side allow users to flip through three additional shots of the stunning local scenery. This exquisite slideshow immediately conveys the peace and awe that visitors to the property are sure to experience on arrival.
The simple color palette, which consists primarily of black, grey, and white, sets a professional and modern tone while allowing the images to stand out. A few gold accents, meanwhile, add a unique touch that makes the website (and, by extension, the property) feel special.
In addition to information about units and amenities, the homepage includes a section entitled “Our History in Photos.” Here, users can scroll through a photo-reel that celebrates the unique history of Huletts Landing, dating back to the 1800s. Directly underneath, a short video, laden with breathtaking drone-footage, showcases the property in its current glory. Together, this visual content celebrates both the past and present. It’s an appreciation that is paralleled by the fonts (serif headings paired with sans-serif text) used throughout the site.
A top-sticky navigation bar makes it easy for users to find what they’re looking for no matter where they find themselves on the website. With just a click, users can find additional information about the property and inquire about reservations. They can return to the homepage at any time by simply clicking the Huletts On Lake George logo in the top-left corner.
The content of each page is organized in a simple and user-friendly format. Short blocks of text coupled with photo slideshows make property details easy to find and understand. And call-to-action buttons on appropriate pages bring users to the reservation inquiry form, where they can submit requests to make a booking at the property.
A widget integrated into the footer of each page displays the current weather and three-day forecast for Huletts landing. And a floating up-arrow ensures that users can navigate to the top of the page at the click of a button.
A responsive design means this website is attractive and functional whether a guest is accessing it from a mobile device or desktop computer.
